Mother of Red Nations
Women's Council of Manitoba
Since 1999, Mother of Red Nations Women's Council of Manitoba (MORN) has worked to promote, protect and support the spiritual, emotional, physical and intellectual well being of Aboriginal women and children in Manitoba.
MORN is committed to working to bring balance to our communities, rebuild our Nations, promote our cultures and reclaim Aboriginal women's roles and status in our families, communities and nations.
With a 9 member Council in 4 regions of Manitoba - North, South, East and West; MORN is effectively connecting Aboriginal women across Manitoba with information, support and resources to realize this vision.
The positions are elected at the Annual General Assembly, with two elected adult positions, one youth, and an appointed elder for each region. The Provincial Speaker is elected by Mother of Red Nation members.
Through training, advocacy, mentorship and research Aboriginal women are reclaiming their rightful role as leaders and decision makers in our communities.
